Methodology

The analysis is carried out by Copenhagen Capacity based on data on investment projects in Europe gathered by Ernst & Young and made available through European Investment Monitor (EIM). EIM, which is available online, is a commercially run database that allows for cross-national and cross-regional analysis. The database registers companies’ investments in the form of green field projects, co-location projects, or expansions projects within all economic sectors, except retail. Consequently the analysis excludes investment projects within Mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, Licence agreements, Retail and leisure facilities, hotels and real estate investments, Utility facilities including telecommunications networks, airports, ports or other fixed infrastructure investments, Extraction activities, Portfolio investments, Factory / production replacement investments.

City-regions are defined at NUTS level 3. Copenhagen is however expanded to include the counties of Copenhagen, Frederiksborg, and Roskilde as these in reality are part of the Greater Copenhagen Region.
